Software doesn't rot.  If you choose a solution that works for you, then it
will continue to work for you.  Security issues you can patch, and when you
do need to migrate to get some new feature, you'd have to do a whole pile of
work to migrate no matter what you were switching between -- sensible
upgrade paths are the exception, not the rule.
