Here in Ghana, we are going to introduce school kids to Ruby as a first language in a competition called "I Too Can Program". Before they used QBasic and it resulted in awful code as well as confused students. In our Advanced Information Technology Institute, they are using RoR internally and will soon start teaching it as well (hopefully!).
